MACEDONIA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
Terms & Regulation
FESTIVAL
1a- The Festival is a quarterly season. Every year, the MIFF has four editions
1b- We accept all types of films from all over the world, short films under 25 minutes, feature films over 60 minutes, and student films under 20 minutes.
2- Films must have been completed after 1 January 2025. There is no premiere requirement. You can also submit the same project in the next season's competition in case you haven't been officially selected in the last editions.
3- All films must be presented in their original language with English subtitles.
4- Additional categories (Director, Cinematography, etc.) will be evaluated separately, so they will be considered as separate categories; any movie has the possibility of winning them.
5- No work or artist will be either discriminated against or favored by their country of origin, language, age, race, education, ideology, or economic resources. Every content, every form, and every technique will be considered with no censorship of any kind.
6 - To ensure that films are judged fully and fairly, they must be viewed through the online screening interface for the awards.
7 - The decisions of the selection committee and the jury are final.
8. A non-refundable registration fee is required to participate.
9. Filmmakers and screenwriters retain 100% of the copyright to their submitted projects and materials related to the Macedonia International Film Festival
10. The festival organizers reserve the right to modify festival materials due to unforeseen circumstances.
11a. By submitting a film for awards or any other purpose, the producer agrees to grant the festival the right to use the film's title, synopsis, and trailer for promotional purposes, including on the festival's website.
11b. All selected films have the opportunity to be included in our channel's programming free of charge and may be shown only on the event day.
11c. Insults or threats against festival staff will result in disqualification, as this violates the festival's spirit of solidarity and respect for art.
11d. Participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless us and our executives, affiliates, employees, and partners from any claims or liabilities arising from the submission or broadcast of films or screenplays to the Macedonia IFF.
Jury and Awards
1- If a film is selected, it will go through the following stages: official selection, semifinals, nomination, and award. Films are judged only in the category in which they are submitted, so each supplementary category requires a separate submission.
2- Winning films must meet the festival's high standards. Only films that meet these standards will receive a MIFF award, a certificate, and will be eligible to apply for a trophy.
3- The overall winners for the season in each category will be announced on the MIFF website and social media platforms.
4- An "Honorary Nomination" is an additional award in the official competition, given by the jury based on the film's overall performance, concept, aesthetics, and/or direction, cinematography, acting, and/or screenplay.
